My first entry!

I was visiting Amazon to check out the new DVD releases, lo and behold, Quantum Leap - The Complete Third Season is slated to be released in May 2005. I already own the first two seasons so I am definitely getting this one too.

I have always been an ardent fan of time-travelling and as a child I have been facinated with the idea of going back in time and correcting the errors of my ways and saving myself a whole of of grief and pain.

However, the main reason why Quantum Leap has remained my all-time TV series is how the show would give me the feel good feeling each week where I would watch Sam tried his very best to right what once went wrong. All he had were the probabilities and percentages of success that Gooshie would compute out and Al the hologram would be there to relay these odds and at the same time be his confidante.

One other aspect of the show that I love is it's myticism. It was revealed very early on in the show that God (yes with a capital "G") was in control in all Sam's leaps. Maybe it was my upbringing as a Christian child that compeled me to seek out stories that shows us how God would use us as his intruments to do his will.

The combination of science fiction and religion rolled into one gave this show the appeal that has remained evergreen throughout the years.

There were several other shows that dealt with divine intervention, most notably, Highway to Heaven, starring Michael London (who also acted in Little House on the Prairie) and Touched by an Angel. These shows were gems in their own rights, however, the stories were about angel(s) helping people who needed their assistance.

Only last year did the TV world decided to use the time travelling concept to create a new series that dealt with righting the wrongs of the past. The series is called Tru Calling, in which the title character, Tru Davies, would relive the day and saving the lives of those affected.

However, there is one series, Joan of Arcadia, that deals with the main character who sees God in the flesh, in different forms, who gives her assignments and if she were to complete it, she would see the effects of her work and how the lives around her are affected for the better.

Amazing how this blog, that is meant to express my excitement over seeing the third season of Quantum Leap, went into an advertising for several TV shows *embarrassed*.
